A couple weeks ago I got a craving for BBQ beef sandwiches and coleslaw, like we all do. I did some searching on one of my favorite food websites, All Recipes . I found this recipe for Slow Cooker BBQ Beef. I was a little apprehensive about making this recipes. Not a lot of effort, but big flavor. It was absolutely delicious. I would have used Cattleman's BBQ sauce, but it's not sold around here anymore. It's my favorite BBQ sauce, it even beats out Cookie's BBQ sauce. So I looked at Target and ended up using KC Masterpiece Original BBQ sauce. I thought it was missing a little something though. The boyfriend thought it was perfect. Next time I make it, I may use my mom's homemade BBQ sauce recipe. I tried using Sara Lee buns and also fresh baked ones from the Target bakery. I did like using the Sara Lee buns better.
The coleslaw I made was drool-worthy and awesome. I also found this recipe on All Recipes. It was the Sweet Restaurant Slaw, which is reminiscent of KFC's coleslaw. It gets even better the longer it marinades in the fridge. I think it's best to let this sit overnight before serving. I will be making another batch of this coleslaw for a 4th of July cookout next week. I cannot wait!

5 minute cake recipe
I was craving a chocolate fix and remember a 5 minute cake mug recipe I had found floating around the internet about a year ago.
The Most Dangerous Cake Recipe in the World
It's simple enough, add the flour, sugar, cocoa and mix in a large coffee mug.
Add in the wet ingredients, the egg, milk, oil, and vanilla extract.
I did not have any chocolate chips so I omitted those.
It didn't take a long to mix together, then I put it in the microwave for 3 minutes.
When I pulled it out of the microwave, it looked a little springy and spongy. It wasn't terribly sweet or chocolaty either. In fact, it was kind of bland. I did some more searching on the internet and found most people actually enjoyed it and actually loved it. I found one blogger (Bakin-n-Bacon) who agreed with me. I had about 2 bites of mine and I can't and won't finish it. As she said, I'd rather have no cake than this cake. Even box mixes are better.

Some news...
Sorry I missed posting last week. No excuse, I've just been really lazy. I'm trying to enjoy my time off between school terms. Which my break ends on Tuesday.
It has come to be that I need some extra income. So I applied to write for The Examiner. I am the Cedar Rapids Dessert Examiner. So yay! I love baking. I just sent in my first article for review.
Also, I am going to be knitting some items and putting them up for sale and even taking commissioned items.
Hopefully this will alleviate some stress in my life and help me be able to relax and geek out more.
On a side note, I started reading A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin since I started watching the HBO show. I am completely addicted. Both the book and the show bring something to the table. You will want to read and watch!
